PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
Purpose: The purpose of the Public Works is to advise Town Council,
staff and the Public Works Department on activities concerning
the Town's physical infrastructure, mainly roads, water and storm
water drainage. The committee recommends priorities for attention,
priorities for expenditure and items for the Capital Improvement
Plan as it relates to infrastructural improvement. It addresses
public concerns which relate to road conditions and water service.
The Committee also works with the Planning Board in Subdivision
approvals as it relates to infrastructural development. Membership: There are two permanent members on the Committee:
the Director of Public Works Department and the Engineer employed
by the Town. Additional membership is open to full and part-time
residents; there is no attendance requirement. Application is
made by attending Committee meetings and declaring a desire for
membership. Members are appointed by Town Council. Preference
is given to applicants who have an interest in the overall infrastructural
needs of the Town and who have some experience and knowledge
in roads and water issues.
Training: There
is no formal training required for new members; however, knowledge
of the Town road system is helpful.
